SARMs have shown their potential in providing a muscle-building effect without the harmful effects that come with the common steroids. Although this is the case, SARMs are not FDA-approved yet.
Many people do think SARMs are more natural and safer than steroids, and while this is true for the most part, these supplements can possibly create the risk of coronary failure, stroke or other damage. SARMs do contribute to heart disease, sometimes worse than steroids.
A study done with LGD-4033, which is one of the most popular SARMs, showed its possible negative effects on the heart. This was done by measuring HDL, which is known as our “good” cholesterol.HDL absorbs excess cholesterol and transports it back to the liver, where it is flushed out of the body. This reduces the risk of heart disease.
The study showed that the SARM reduced HDL levels by significant amounts. Individuals are not aware of this drop unless they go for a cholesterol test. It causes a build-up of unhealthy fats, which spell bad news for the heart!
Although HDL levels slowly come back to normal when users are off their SARMs cycle for 6 weeks, the evidence shows that the level of unhealthy fats in the blood can cause heart attacks, stroke and other heart problems.
